As I had gone out of Madras in 1964 and started coming to the city only after 1968 after my brother`s shifting to Madras, my contacts with TRS started only thereafter. Whenever we met he used to enquire about my father or talk about his association with my father and this continued till 1996.
I still cherish the memories of TRS giving away fresh and crisp notes to the younger ones depending upon the relation and age on Diwali days. The mutual affection between TNK and TRS is legendary and they cannot remain without seeing each other for more than 3/4 days. Further assistance and the help between them is known to everybody.
I understand that he was a dominant person and strict with the children. But these were for their good as can be seen now .Mrs.TRS had gone out of the way to help despite their own problems and I am sure TRS completely backed her. As far as I know they were always together and never stayed in the houses of their children or relatives separately which speaks of mutual affection and respect.
I am sure TRS`s good deeds and the timely help to one and all have paved the way for the present `better` condition of his progenies.

Dear chandran anna.
A cute and well composed article by you. This write-up has certainly kindled my memories of my early triplicane days, Pichu maama, Venkuttanna family, the bondage they had with the TRS family. Golden period.
I was a school going kid then.
Maama was a regular visitor to TRS home and i still cherish the way he used to call paati: ("muthu", with a high decibel voice, but filled with lots of affection).
He used to come around 5 pm and spend some time with thathaa & paatti. He had a special affection for kiruba maama too.
good to know your views on thathaa & paati.
